The Pilot Pen

The Pilot Pen is a 28 singles and 16 doubles draw, WTA Tier II tournament, offering $585,000 in prize money. Formerly known as the USTA Hardcourts, the event has been one of the major stops on the worldwide WTA Tour since 1988 and was first played in New Haven in 1998. The Pilot Pen consistently features a minimum of five of the top 10 women's players in the world and attracts 80,000-90,000 spectators.

Past champions include Steffi Graf, Monica Seles, Martina Navratilova, Lindsay Davenport, Venus Williams and Jennifer Capriati.
