Paradorn Srichaphan beat defending champion Wayne Ferreira 6-3, 7-6 (4) Tuesday in the first round of the Mercedes-Benz Cup.
Srichaphan, the No. 2 seed, is the potential final round opponent for top-seeded Andre Agassi, who was making a bid for career win No. 800 in a Tuesday night match against Alex Bogomolov Jr.
