MASON, Ohio (AP) -- Roger Federer couldn’t be broken during his opening match at the Cincinnati Masters.

Federer held serve throughout a 6-3, 7-5 win over Jose Acasuso on Wednesday, facing only one break point all match. The Swiss star made 70 percent of his first serves and piled up 14 aces.

After winning his record 15th Grand Slam at Wimbledon, Federer took time off to become the father of twin girls. He got back on the court last week in Montreal and reached the quarterfinals. He’s trying to get his game in shape before he defends his US Open title in two weeks.

Fourth-seeded Novak Djokovic beat Croatia’s Ivan Ljubicic 7-6 (5), 6-4 in another opening match. Djokovic was accurate with his shots in the humid and sometimes windy conditions, making only seven unforced errors.
