Coldplay to play GRAMMY Foundation benefit following Farmers Classic

LOS ANGELES -- Just three days after the conclusion of the Farmers Classic, presented by Mercedes-Benz, the LA Tennis Center will play host to Coldplay in a concert to benefit the GRAMMY Foundation on August 3.

Samsung Telecommunications America (Samsung Mobile) has announced that Coldplay will headline the Los Angeles concert for the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush 2011 series, with proceeds from the event benefitting the GRAMMY Foundation's GRAMMY in the Schools music education programs for high school students.  As well, select songs from the Coldplay performance will air the same evening on ABC's Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The concert will serve as the Los Angeles portion of The Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert series, featuring today's hottest artists participating in unique summer music experiences in major cities and offers attendees a chance to experience the new Samsung Infuse™ 4G  exclusively at AT&T! The series has established itself as a can't-miss concert experience and with Coldplay headlining this year's show, it is guaranteed to be a memorable event. Designed to provide attendees with private concerts and the opportunity to experience the Samsung Infuse™ 4G exclusively at AT&T, the Samsung AT&T Summer Krush concert series begins in mid-July and lasts through mid-September, and features nine one-night-only music events that give attendees a chance to hear some of their favorite bands performing intimate concerts in some of the hippest locations.  Each event features a one-hour, high-energy performance by a chart-topping musical artist along with interactive activities for attendees and opportunities to win a number of prizes including the Samsung Infuse™ 4G Exclusively at AT&T and a branded Samsung AT&T Summer Krush guitar.

The net proceeds from the event will benefit the GRAMMY Foundation's®-GRAMMY in the Schools® music education programs for high school students. Tickets for Coldplay, priced from $45 to $150, go on sale on Friday, July 15 at 10:00 AM PST at through Ticketmaster. In addition, a limited number of tickets will be available to fans through Samsung and AT&T.

The 85h annual Farmers Classic, presented by Mercedes-Benz, takes place July 25-31 at the LA Tennis Center on UCLA's campus featuring ATP World Tour stars Juan Martin del Potro, Mardy Fish, Fernando Gonzalez, Marcos Baghdatis, James Blake, Lleyton Hewitt, Dmitry Tursunov, Janko Tipsarevic, Xavier Malisse and Kei Nishikori, among others who are scheduled to play.

The Farmers Classic, presented by Mercedes-Benz, is an Olympus US Open Series and ATP World Tour event. It will once again be played to benefit the programs of the Southern California Tennis Association. In 2010, the tournament and associated special events raised more than $500,000 for the SCTA and other charities.
