LOS ANGELES - Late Monday, eight seed Mardy Fish arrived in LA fresh off his title in Atlanta.

After battling through a week of oppressive heat to claim his fifth career title, Fish has decided to withdraw from the singles competition in Los Angeles, citing fatigue as well as an ankle injury he suffered during his second round match against Robby Ginepri in Atlanta.

"Due to fatigue and a sprained ankle in Atlanta I am not in good shape to play," Fish said. "I need to rest in order to compete at a high level"

Fish's replacement in the draw will be determined on Tuesday morning at 11:30 a.m., which is the lucky loser sign in deadline.

A lucky loser spot goes to the highest ranked player who lost in the last round of qualifying who signs in before the deadline on any given day.
