Alexandr Dolgopolov of Ukraine moved into a second-place tie with Andy Roddick in the 2012 Emirates Airline US Open Series Bonus Challenge Standings with a 6-7 (7), 6-4, 6-1 win over Tommy Haas of Germany in the final of the Citi Open in Washington, D.C.. This marks Dolgopolov’s first career Emirates Airline US Open Series title and brings him within 25 points of Sam Querrey, who takes over first place in the men’s standings. Querrey had lost to the eventual champion Dolgopolov in the semifinals.

Next on the Emirates Airline US Open Series: The men and women will both head to Canada for the Rogers Cup. The men will compete in Toronto and feature the 2012 Emirates Airline US Open Series debuts of Novak Djokovic and Olympic gold medalist Andy Murray (the Rogers Cup winner in 2009 and 2010). The women will compete in Montreal and will include the 2012 Emirates Airline US Open Series debut of Olympic silver medalist Maria Sharapova. ESPN2 will provide 16 hours of coverage, including the men’s final on Sunday in Toronto at 7 p.m. ET and the women’s final in Montreal on Monday at 10 p.m. ET. Tennis Channel will provide coverage from Toronto beginning Monday and from Montreal beginning Tuesday.

Now in its ninth season, the Emirates Airline US Open Series continues to serve as a true regular season of hard-court tennis, linking 10 summer tournaments to the US Open. In 2005, Kim Clijsters also captured both the US Open and the Series, winning $2.2 million – the largest purse in women’s sports history – and equaled that amount in 2010, winning the US Open and finishing the Emirates Airline US Open Series in second place.
