WASHINGTON – Eight of the top 25 players on the Emirates ATP World Tour rankings are confirmed to play in the main draw of the 2014 Citi Open.

Fresh from reaching his first Grand Slam quarterfinal at the French Open, Canada’s Milos Raonic (No. 9) leads the superb men’s field. Top American and last year’s tournament runner-up, John Isner (No. 11) returns to Washington, along with Japan’s top player, Kei Nishikori (No. 12).

Grigor Dimitrov (No. 13) hopes to continue his great season, after winning three ATP World Tour titles so far this year, most recently at Queen’s Club in London. Richard Gasquet (No. 14), Kevin Anderson (No. 18), Gael Monfils (No. 21), and Feliciano Lopez (No. 25) round out the men’s field in the top 25.

“Having three of the Top 10 seeds at Wimbledon – Raonic (No. 8), Isner (No. 9) and Nishikori (No. 10) – playing in the Citi Open is a great indicator of the incredibly strong men’s field that will be featured this year,” said Jeff Newman, tournament director.

Aside from Isner, all-American men on the Emirates ATP World Tour Top 100 Rankings are also confirmed, including fan favorites Sam Querrey, Jack Sock, Donald Young and Steve Johnson. Past champions will also return, such as Lleyton Hewitt and Radek Stepanek. In addition, Citi Open Tournament Wild Card Challenge champion and rising tennis star Francis Tiafoe will also play to qualify into the main draw.

The remaining spots will be filled with the winners of the qualifying rounds on July 26-27 and wild cards as determined by Citi Open tournament officials. Main draw play will begin Monday, July 28.

The doubles field will be announced at a later date but is headlined by early commitments, world No. 1 team Bob and Mike Bryan.
